Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to pursue a career as a professional ballet dancer. But, while watching her sister Katie at the Ladies Room movie set, Emily was captivated by acting. She started taking acting classes. She also got appearances on television shows in her homeland Canada. Some of the TV series that she appeared in were Are You afraid to be in the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp's career exploded after he was cast for the part of Sam Dolan, a regular in the series WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. It was cancelled after nine episodes, despite positive reviews and poor ratings. The 12th of May, 1986 actress was quickly offered a second part in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the main characters. It was for this role that she was nominated by the Young Artist Award, and as well as the four Teen Choice Awards.
